This "buckle knot" is called "chaining" in crochet. Make a loop, pull running line through the loop to form a new loop... repeat as necessary. Hold the last loop you make, else a single pull will undo the chain. I see no easy way to chain up while spinning, nor much purpose in doing so. Rope dart length is deceptive already. Holding a length of rope back accomplishes the same thing, is far simpler, and faster. The thickness of the chained rope also slows the spin due to added air-drag. This is a good way to keep your rope untangled while in transit, but ultimately takes up more room than is needed in your bag.
