Whats everyones favorite music to spin to (poi, staffs, whatever you do.) i like the kind of... i dont want to say spiritual but that's the best way i can think of to describe it. that kind of music that is similar to trance, but not as monotonous, but im rambling hahaha. how about you out there? links would be appreciated.
Wow what a great thread to respond to! I could get into this... I try to stay away from the cliche "thump thump thump" house music, but sometimes it's unavoidable for spinning as it sets up your rhythm. Otherwise, female vocals are awesome, and sometimes downtempo is just killer for slower and more intricate dances. Some Cocteau Twins with Massive Attack: (sublime vocals) http://www.youtube.com/user/TheHegemonShadow#p/f/12/7OwMgSeSIzk Elsiane with her ultra unique voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Occ6AdCyLy0 The sampled vocal genius of Holden and Thompson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFjtgMNIJcU The resonant harmonic stylings of Taste Experience: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheHegemonShadow#p/f/63/1mC6iA21QyY I know when I'm truly in tune with the music and the fire when I close my eyes when I spin. It's definitely spiritual, and that's a difficult thing to admit coming from one who is scientific in nature - "If it can't be quantified, measured or otherwise studied, then it doesn't exist". This is spiritual. It's fulfilling. It's wonderful.

I like using trance for a lot of spinning, my current favorite by far is Beyond the Senses by Astrix. ALso, I like it with some mainstream music, as some works well. I think Temperature by Sean Paul works great, a few Lady Gaga songs work great (Love Game, Poker Face, Bad Romance), unfortunately almost all of my favorite music except for a few songs don't work for poi. There is other things but don't feel like listing right now.

I never really liked it until I started spinning. I got some more music that would fit it, I listen to it while I spin and it growns on me, with the exception of some certain songs -.- ughh so many rappers, I got enough shortly wher I could just ignore the rap and get rid of it. (I have Billboard's #1 songs since 2000 because after meeting more people I am no longer the only one listening to music on my iPod)

Someone at the spin jam here keeps playing Kraddy, so I've developed a fondness for spinning to the songs "Android Porn" and "New World Empire". The ravers are contaminating my precious bodily fluids...

This is another song I've really been digging. Not sure if this is the kind of music most of you would like or if it's appropriate at all for spinning! It's upbeat and I think it has a great rhythm to it, it's a fun song as are a lot of theirs. Either way this song rocks my socks and maybe some folk out there will appreciate it....
Finntroll is a Swedish folk/metal band that sings in Finnish, singing about Swedish mythology and folklore. They combine elements of humpa/polka music with their style and make plenty use of banjo and even jaw harp in some of their songs.

I'm going to look it up, because people have said it either way. I thought they were Swedes singing Finnish, then a Swede said they're singing in his native language, so wouldn't that make them Finnish. I know they're from one country and sing in the other's language because of how it sounds. I'm just confused at this point! But I guess you'd know more than anyone since it appears you're actually from that land! Either way it's pure awesomeness, they are a great band and I can't wait for their new album or to see them live. Hail the trolls!

It's only twenty one days into 2010 but this song is already my top contender for favorite song of the year. It's got that feel-good, upbeat vibe. I was spinning inside and had this on repeat for over an hour!
And hey ReVo! You want to help a guy out and translate any of that for me that would be awesome. Your Finnish ears are needed!

i love the dubstep. but i also really enjoy the Amile soundtrack, and things in that same vein. any sort of complicated music that changes it up on you while still being repetitious gives you way more room to play!

@Bren: Yeah, most dubstep is kinda "meh", but I've been digging some of the more energetic Bassnectar tracks lately. "Amorphous Form" and "Select Frequency" from Underground Communication are pretty fun. Never thought I'd develop a taste for music with a hip hop beat that wasn't Cannibal Ox or Blackalicious...

If you havent heard of them, I suggest you check out "16 bit", a London Duo that make some pretty sweet plates. They have a pretty good mix of fast and slow stuff, and although it might be considered a little tame by some, its still great spinning music. I also have the Amélie soundtrack, bloody good stuff that.

Chiptune is by far my favorite to spin to though. Favorite one:

This is my favorite spin track right now and honestly get lost in seriously hardcore breakbeat from the old school! I think my next fire video will be set to this song I fell in love with way back as a freshman in high school.
Breaks unleash that hard, tribal, primitive rawness for some reason!

My perfect song that shows the feeling of my flow in action is Call me Manana by Scooter. Also "Manana" has the little squiggle over the first "n" I just don't have a key for it. There's actually two versions, this is the one I like.

East Coast has always sampled rock early on and worked with splicing a breakbeat in, but Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop, NWA, and Public Enemy were the reason I discovered Parliament Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone, Earth Wind and Fire, George Clinton, and a ton of other amazing music from before I was born.
Funk is awesome to spin to BTW, great for accentuating stalls or going slow and big!
Iconic and epic, if it weren't for G-Funk I never would have linked this (I love the fashion too BTW so influential!):

I'm partial to live drummers that can play dynamically as I agree.. it really has to be able to change tempos or at least feel that way you can play with things like pendulums and then go into weaves etc.

I don't know which remix you like but you should definitely check this one out: Hide and Seek Ozo Remix Also, Roksonix does a great dubstep remix and Afrojack's Watcha Say remix will blow you up lol
I personally love house, techno, trance, and the occasionaly dubstep for spinning. I like songs that change it up every once in a while and that are surprising, and with great build-ups so I can get in the mode and kill it. lol Also love when the song has an uplifting feeling.

it's T.W.O just so you know check my flow (UGH!) I am who I am but I was who I was and I'm cool with both of them people.steve harvey
well some dubstep my main dub artist is definatly glebstar, hes good and i like kinda tribal, natural sounding stuff like phaeleh, he does some pretty cool choons. One of my favs is 'plink' i found it on a poi vid actually and yes im mainly a poi spinner so most of these would be poi songs, but i spose it could fit with almost any form of juggling
I'm trying to learn to E Nomine I don't know if it matters to ya'll but they are German. They have some great music and the videos are pretty good too. Das Omen, Das Tier In Mir Wolfen, and my fave Vater Unser.

Quoted for truth, love Caravan Palace! I did a Belly dance/Flapper fusion workshop and she recommended Caravan Palace, have enjoyed their music ever since. Also enjoying Beats Antique, I really like Rising Tide, Voodoo (feat. Bassnectar) and Beauty Beats for spinning.
Wondering what anybody's favourite tracks from OC Remix might be?
